Program Description:
The Research Program at The Morton Arboretum is diverse and offers one of the largest such programs of any arboretum in North America. Arboretum researchers engage in practical scientific study in the following areas; Plant Conservation, Plant Pathology, Plant Systematics/Taxonomy, Research Horticulture, Root Systems Biology, and Tree Breeding.

The Research Scientists at The Morton Arboretum typically have a variety of research-oriented positions available each year for undergraduate students and recent graduates who have an interest in gaining tree and plant research experience and/or internship credit. These positions may have flexibility in start date but typically are full-time, usually beginning in May and lasting a minimum of 3 months. These are a great opportunity for students to gain practical working experience in majors relating to horticulture, plant sciences, or biology among others.
