Program Year:
2005
Program Description:
The National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance supports faculty and students who believe that the teaching of invention and innovation is critical to American higher education. Its mission is to nurture a new generation of innovators by promoting curricula designed to teach creativity, invention, and entrepreneurship. At the same time, the NCIIA offers faculty a forum where they can share technical information and ideas, learn about new pedagogical techniques, and discuss effective curricular models. Faculty and staff from NCIIA member institutions apply for course and program grants on behalf of their college or university to develop new courses and programs in invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship, or to strengthen existing programs by adding new components or collaborating with faculty members from other disciplines. Successful funded courses and programs structure curricula that help form and foster independent E-Teams. Course and program grants range in size from $2,000 to $50,000. They support programs lasting one to three years.
Program Restrictions:
Grants may be used for equipment, supplies, travel, technical services, limited faculty stipends and expenses directly related to creating an E-Team program. Eligible expenses include the costs of performing patent searches, creating marketing analyses, business plans, and prototypes.
